apps WorkSmart v3 - Release due June 2015

If you have apps WorkSmart installed, these updated will apply.  apps SmartDoc is the Orange screen component of apps WorkSmart and apps Formatting is the toolbar.


APPS SMARTDOC

New features added.  You can now:

  • Setup a template to be protected from change;
Your authors can generate a document from the template using apps SmartDoc which adds the Cover, author and other contact details, you can even allow them to update the document via the ReportWizard, but, once the document has been setup, authors will only be able to make the changes you specify.

  • Specify up to six additional contacts, and retrieve full address and even social media details.
This release allows you to store contact details in a Personal contacts workbook, or distribute Office contacts via the Updater.  You can also access Outlook contacts, however, Outlook doesn't allow you to store as much information like Social Media, and Bank Account details, that you might need, in a structured fashion.
In this version, you can retrieve an Outlook contact and add the details to your Personal Contacts list, and then add additional information.

You can set up an apps SmartDoc template to have an additional 5 contacts, and choose these 5 contacts from your Personal contacts list by default, the Office contacts list or Outlook as a secondary option, or add a new contact as a third option.

You can also select the Customer on the Cover page tab from your Personal Contacts list to retrieve that contacts address details.

You can specify the additional contacts required for a tempate by adding a Contact ## property in the template's Properties, and adding bookmarks for that contact's details to be added.

We'll be adding more video walkthroughs to our Resources page (www.appsforoffice.com/wp-html/Resources.html), and template examples to our installer package to help you get started when this version is released.

APPS FORMATTING

New features added. You can now add:

  • Custom chapters
Add any pre-built chapters to your Chapter gallery in apps Formatting.  You will need to create and name these chapters following the APPS FOR OFFICE chapter building block rules outlined in Convert a Template Session 3 More Building Blocks: Introduction to Chapters (www.appsforoffice.com/wp-html/Train_CONVERT1_3Chapters.html)  For example, you might want to store a custom Case Study chapter with your template. You can store pictures for the gallery in the STARTUP folder, which can be deployed to your authors.
  • Custom tables and add these chapters to your Table gallery in apps Formatting. For example, you might want to store a custom Case Study chapte with your template. You can store pictures for the gallery in the STARTUP folder, which can be deployed to your authors.
